MISSION STATEMENT
To provide compassionate and comprehensive education and support to the childbearing family during pregnancy, labor, birth and the immediate postpartum period to facilitate a satisfying birth experience for all members of the birth team.

BIRTH PHILOSOPHY
Uncomplicated childbirth is an everyday blessing, not a medical emergency. Each woman already has within her everything it takes to birth her baby and can labor and birth her own way most effectively in an environment where she feels safe and loved.

What is Bedside Manners?

Bedside Manners is an independent contractor for Homebirth and Women's Health, a certified nurse-midwife hombirth service of Northern Indiana and Southwest Michigan. Together they comprise the only fully legal homebirth option in the Allen and surrounding counties area. Janis Chrissikos has been a registered nurse (RN) since 1993, with a background in ICU and forensics. She has been a professional labor support provider, or doula, originally certified through BirthWorks. She now is the RN assistant to a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) who provides homebirth services with complete prenatal and postpartum care. Janis is an experienced breastfeeding mother with three daughters and four sons, the first baby born in a hospital with an OB and the last six born at home with midwives. Currently a student nurse-midwife at Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing, she will graduate and open her own homebirth CNM practice in spring 2012. See My Biography page for more information.
